Since I started this online store I made it to one of my goals not just to sell products, but to provide information about home and selfdefense products and the subject in general.
I do a lot of research and everytime this question pops up in blogs, forum and faq pages.
What is the best home defense weapon.
I am far from an expert in the field of weapons.
I have a 9mm handgun and a 22 rifle.
Both I like to take to the local shooting range and fire a couple of rounds on a target.
Howe i would perform in a life threatening situation?, if someone would attack me in my house?. I could not tell and I hope I never have to tell you.
Stress, fear, and all the other emotions that will be there is something I can not predict.
My pesonal opinion about a gun for home defense is that it is the last line of defense and only to use when all your other lines fail, defense lines like:
- Outside lightning
- Door and Window alarms
- Alarm systems with light and sound.
Than a gun might do it. But a gun is only effective if your wear it. Kept in a bedroom drawer want do you any good in a house invasion. Even on your night stand, while you are in the shower will do you no goog.My point is:
If you want to use a weapon as home defense you have to wear it at all times.
There are amny blogs and website that can tell you all about what weapon, caliber, ammunition etc etc is the most effective home defense weapon. I would like to add what is in my opinion one of the best home defense weapons.
Awareness is the best home defense weapon
Armed with Awareness you can make it through life without ever have to get into a fight. There is a difference between being aware of you surroundings and fear.
Fear is never a good adviser.
With paying attention where you are and where you are going to you, can make your life a lot safer.
A simple example is a visit to the ATM. Would you use an ATM that was in the dark? Or in the corner of a parking lot at night?
Probably not.
That is what I mean with awareness.
We have to go through life in a different way. The economy that is declining makes the crime rates go up. People will do desperate things to get money or things they can sell for a quick buck. Break ins are on the rise, so we also have to be aware of how our houses are protected.
My advice is to take a walk around your house and look at it as if you were a burglar. In this way you will AWARE of the weak spots in your home defense.
The only way you can make a plan to protect your home is being aware of what kind of home defense products you need.
This can be as simple as a door or window alarm, up to a complete home securtiy system.
If however you decide to use any gun for protection you should wear it all the time, even isdide.
